Abstract
This paper presents a pose estimation device that can be used as monitoring system for the real-time gait analysis of lower extremity. The above-mentioned system is a modified version of the CATRASYS (Cassino Tracking System), which is a measuring system designed and built at University of Cassino, which is able to estimate the pose (position and orientation) and wrenches of a moving object. In this context the pose and wrenches estimation device is used to analyze some basic characteristics of the gait in terms of lower extremity position determination and investigation on the influence of the gait of gender, age, height, and weight. The influence of carrying a load is investigated together with the influence of different types of shoes too. Those results are also shown and discussed for a characterization of the gait and future medical applications, both for diagnosis procedures and rehabilitation therapies.
