Abstract
The accurate and precise estimation of LDL-cholesterol is of utmost importance in the patients of coronary heart disease. Friedewald’s formula is the most commonly used method for the measurement of LDL-cholesterol in routine clinical laboratories. This formula has certain limitations and to overcome these limitations, several modifications in this classical formula have been suggested and validated against the directly measured LDL-cholesterol values. In this article the utility of these modified formulas has been discussed.
