Direction-of-arrival Estimation of Multicomponent Chirp Signals Based on the Fractional Fourier Transform

Abstract
Direction-of-arrival(DOA)estimationof multicomponent chirp signals is difficult by use of the conventional DOA estimation algorithms. Since the fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) is appropriate for processing chirp-like signals, a novel method, based on the FRFT, is proposed to deal with the problem mentioned above. Firstly, the new model of chirp signals received by a planar array is constructed in the fractional Fourier domain (FRFD). Secondly, the relevant steering vector is defined. Finally, a novel estimation algorithm of DOA is proposed based on the FRFT. The simulation results illustrate the good performance of the proposed algorithm for DOA estimation of multicomponent chirp signals.
